Tickets for trees

Come see our show and plant a tree.
  • What if you could plant a tree by going to a concert?

That would be pretty neat, right? We agree. That’s why we joined forces with Eden Reforestation Projects to make it happen.

  • Tickets for trees

That means, every concert ticket we sold to our shows in Europe will finance one tree.

We are talking about more than 60.000 saplings, which will help restore the health of flora and fauna as well as support local communities in the project’s region. A whole Milky Chance forest if you will.

So imagine, every person that came to our shows represents one new tree. Pretty cool, right?

  • Why do we want to engage in tree planting?

In the process of becoming a more sustainable band, we are constantly facing obstacles. Some of them are harder to overcome than others, eg. long-distance plane trips, fueling a tour bus or powering concert venues. To us, finding ways of not only reducing our environmental impact but actively give back to nature seems like a no-brainer. Funding reforestation projects is one way of partially making up for our negative footprint.

Why do we want to engage in tree planting?
  • Why trees?

Trees are vital to our ecosystem and the current challenge of the ongoing global deforestation needs to be tackled through planting projects everywhere.
Yes, trees absorb CO2, but they do so much more! I don’t want to sell them undervalue by only measuring their capability of offsetting CO2 emissions.

So here is a little overview of what trees are capable of:

...air: they provide oxygen and clean the air from odors, pollutant gas, and particulates

...climate: they absorb carbon dioxide, cool streets, cities and provide shade

...soil: they support soil restoration and prevent soil erosion (slowing down runoff)

...water: they save water (shade), prevent water pollution and help replenish dried-up riverbeds through lifting up groundwater levels

...wildlife: they provide canopy, habitat and food

...society: they provide food security, promote self-sufficiency, provide wood, and create economic opportunities

  • Where will the Milky Chance trees be planted?

The trees we finance through ticket sales will restore the mangrove forests in Eden’s Madagascar project.

Madagascar is more than just an island from an animated movie. It’s a nation with over 200,000 species of plants and animals that don’t exist anywhere else in the world. But more than 90% of Madagascar’s original forests have been destroyed, displacing entire animal species and taking away the Malagasy’s ability to farm and live on the land. Entire mangrove estuaries are gone, leaving the bare earth to wash away into the sea.” says Eden.

  • Why did we choose Eden as our partner?

We chose Eden Reforestation Projects as our tree planting partner because they follow a philosophy we can fully support.
To put it in a nutshell, Eden hires local villagers that are affected by extreme poverty to grow, plant and care for the saplings. This way, they combine the positive environmental impact with a socio-economic one. Local families regain financial security and long-term, they will gain independence through the restored forest promoting self-sufficiency. Therefore, a stronger bond and awareness for the importance of the forest is built, which then helps to ensure the preservation of the newly planted saplings in the long-run.

So, not only will your concert ticket plant a tree but it will also help local communities in Madagascar. How great is that?

  • And the best part is… we’re keeping it going!

All ticket sales for our upcoming North America tour will finance trees as well! So all you have to do is come and see one of our shows and you will automatically give something back to the environment.

    It’s as easy as that!
