Let’s support the environment with style.

It’s finally time ...the Milky Chance Europe Tour starts today!

While the band is taking on final preparations to kick off the Mind the Moon tour in Cologne tonight, I am stoked to be traveling with them in order to get a first-hand idea of what touring actually means in the context of sustainability.
  • The topic of merchandise has been on our minds and tables a lot leading up to this tour, so I am excited to tell you: if you’ve got a ticket to the sold-out Milky Chance show in Cologne tonight, you can be amongst the first ones to check out our reduced but elevated palette of merchandise!
When talking about sustainable consumerism, we often focus solely on restrictions and prohibitions. Though, what if we could offer products that are not only manufactured to the highest eco-friendly standards possible but are also capable of giving back to the environment?
Sound good so far? Cool, let me explain a bit further.

  • What’s in stock?

I am proud and excited to share with you today what we’ve got in stock.
You’ll be able to choose from a Mind the Moon tour shirt or hoodie, a Milky Change shirt (that comes with a special twist) and a stainless-steel bottle. Because less is more right?

  • Textiles

With the help of Fynn Kliemann, we managed to find a manufacturer based in Portugal, who is dedicated to the highest level of eco-friendliness throughout their production.
For starters, their production is based in Europe (Portugal and Serbia), using 100% organic cotton, which is certified by GOTS for every individual batch of fabric being used. Using a technique called “aquadye”, the designs are then printed onto the fabric using OEKO Tex 100 certified colors, which are biodegradable. As an alternative to using plastic bags, they wrap the textiles in biodegradable bags, which you can reuse or throw into your compost at home.(edit! Unfortunately we had to deal with a pushback concerning the compostable bags: the shirts arrived to us individually wrapped in polybags, which is yet another example of not always succeeding in greening efforts. For the second order of merch, we hope to renounce any individual packaging entirely) Shipping is taken literally, by partially shipping their products using sailing boats next to establishing a railway based logistic system.

These demands apply to all of our textile merchandise, but the Milky Change shirt comes with a little extra goody. We will donate 10% of the revenue made from this shirt to our friends at Viva Con Agua, to support their ongoing efforts towards ensuring access to clean drinking water to all people worldwide.

  • Waterbottle

Next to our textile merch, we decided to create a Milky Chance stainless-steel bottle, manufactured by MiiR. Steel is a truly sustainable material, it is long-lasting, durable and can be used again and again, which makes it a real cradle-to-cradle recycled material. We chose MiiR as our partner for the Milky Chance bottle, as we think their “product to project” philosophy is rad. MiiR uses a portion of their revenue to fund projects focused on clean water, a healthy environment and strong communities. Once you hold your MiiR bottle in your hands, flip it upside down to find your unique “give code” located on the bottom of the bottle. This code allows you to track exactly where that money goes and which one of the 61 projects in 26 countries you support directly.

  • Concert exclusive merchandise

Please keep in mind, in order to reduce the environmental cost of shipping individually, we will NOT be setting up an online shop.  Merchandise will be sold exclusively at our shows!

Are you just as excited about this as we are?

Awesome, then you should go and check out the merch stand tonight in Cologne or score some merch at one of the upcoming European shows in the next few weeks!

And psssst… I’ve got another surprise for our fans in Amsterdam! To be continued…
